PT-141 received FDA approval in June 2019 under the brand name Vyleesi, making it one of the few peptides with full regulatory approval. Clinical trials demonstrated statistically significant improvements in desire scores compared to placebo. The compound was derived from research on Melanotan II but was specifically developed to target central nervous system pathways.
