Bacteriostatic water is sterile water containing 0.9% benzyl alcohol as a preservative. The benzyl alcohol inhibits bacterial growth, allowing the water to be used for multiple reconstitutions from the same vial.
Lyophilised (freeze-dried) peptides must be reconstituted with a sterile solvent before use. Bacteriostatic water is the standard choice because its preservative allows multiple withdrawals from the same vial without microbial contamination.
Each peptide vial is typically reconstituted with 1 ml of bacteriostatic water. A single 10 ml vial of bacteriostatic water can reconstitute approximately 10 peptide vials.
Store at room temperature. Keep sealed when not in use. Once opened, use within 28 days.
